The most ancient creed of Christendom was simply, “Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.” As the Advent season is all about “coming,” this first Sunday in Advent calls our attention ahead to when Christ will come again at His Second Coming. We ponder in the gospel today what we know about this Second Coming, what we don’t know, and what’s “The Bottom Line” for us and for the world.
