In the gospel of John, it is John the Baptist who testifies before anyone else about the personhood of Jesus, revealing him to John’s own disciples and by way of the gospel revealing Christ to us, making manifest the truth that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.  So much of the truth and personhood of Jesus hangs on the light of this one phrase, which we are blessed to have John the Baptist discern and proclaim to the world.  Some of John’s disciples, on hearing this revelation, followed Jesus that very day.  What will we do with this good news?
